World History is broken up into two segments in Prince William County,
covering students' 8th and 9th grade years. Mr. Nicely's Godwin
Middle School classes will journey through the past beginning in the Old
Stone Age when early man began to form hunter-gatherer groups. We
will continue our exploration of the early civilizations of Asia,
Africa, Europe and the Middle East. We will also mark the rise
of great Greek and Roman civilizations, noting the discoveries and
contributions of that time period which can be seen today. Our
journey through time will conclude with an examination of the Indian
tribes of Central and South America, the continued development of
civilizations in the both the Eastern and Western hemispheres and the
events leading up to a remarkable period in history known as the
Renaissance!!!

discussed in class as well as in our textbook and links to entertaining
and educational online sites dedicated to the study of world history.
